CHAMPIONS TROPHY 2025
Scheduled from 19 February to 9 March 2025, the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy marks the ninth installment of the prestigious cricket tournament. Organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC), it will be hosted by Pakistan and feature the top eight One Day International (ODI) men's national teams. Pakistan, the defending champions from the 2017 edition, will aim to retain their title in this revived competition, which had been paused since 2017.
QUALIFICATION
As hosts, Pakistan secured automatic qualification for the competition. They were accompanied by the seven highest-ranked teams from the group stage of the 2023 Cricket World Cup. Notably, this tournament marks Afghanistan's inaugural appearance, while former champions Sri Lanka missed out on qualification for the first time.
FORMAT
Each team will play 3 matches in the league stage in their respective group and the team which will be in top2 will get qualified for knockout semifinals from both groups.
VENUE
The venue is not selected or approved completely there is a chance of host making a hybrid model for India as India does not play in Pakistan due to security and geopolitical reasons, as if they don't agree for a hybrid model the chances of event being successful becomes very less as India and Indians are the main stakeholders of cricket around the world.
